Current UGA students, faculty, and staff automatically have borrowing privileges at the UGA Libraries.

Patrons who are unaffiliated with UGA can apply for borrowing privileges. To apply, get an Outside Borrowers' application from the Athens-Clarke County Public Library. A librarian at the ACC Library will fill out a portion of the form. To complete your application, bring the partially-completed form to the Access Services desk at the UGA Main Library.

Outside Borrower Policies and Procedures

Outside Borrowers' cards must be renewed every 3 months in-person or over the phone. A $10 application fee must also be paid once a year to renew the card.

The Outside Borrowers agreement only guarantees checkouts from the Main and McBay Science libraries. Special libraries on-campus, such as the Music library, approve loans to outside borrowers on a discretionary basis.

The Outside Borrowers program is an agreement with PINES libraries. Non-Athens Outside Borrowers must call their own local libraries to verify whether they participate in this agreement with UGA.
